HARD GOODS PRODUCT DESIGNER – JONATHAN ADLER HQ

We are looking for a versatile Product Designer with strong graphic capabilities to work with the Head Design Manager and Jonathan Adler on full extensions of the Jonathan Adler hard good product line. This position will offer the opportunity to design and develop a wide range of product from decorative accessories, hard tabletop, gift and games to lighting and decorative objects.

We work under fast paced timelines and are looking for someone with strong program skills, product design experience, and eye for detail and a good work ethic to bring creativity and life to new extensions of the Jonathan Adler brand.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Product Design or related field
• 2 years industry experience minimum in product design required
• Proficiency and working experience in the Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
• Hand Drawing/Illustrative Skills are a huge plus
• Strong Ability to express ideas through design
• Outstanding Communication Skills both written and verbal

BUYER / MERCHANT JONATHAN ADLER HQ

Overview:
Jonathan Adler is a design company dedicated to bringing style, craft, joy, and a general feeling of grooviness to the home. We are based in New York City with 17 stores nationwide with growing wholesale and web businesses.

The Buyer/ Merchant will take over current outside vendor relationships and will be responsible for working with the team to scout additional potential items that complement the Jonathan Adler assortment.

Responsibilities:
• Manage current outside vendor relationships. This includes, but is not limited to, books, art pieces, limited textiles and toys.
• Manage current Artist relationships (Rex Ray, etc).
• Seek out and present ideas for new outside vendor products to leadership team.
• Seek out and present ideas for additional Art to leadership team.
• Work with Director of Planning to assure that IMU meets department goals.
• Work with Director of Planning to assure that unit and cost buy is within budget.
• Monitor weekly sales and manage re-order process.
• Communicate with all suppliers on delivery issues.
• Provide all retail stores, web, and wholesale divisions with product knowledge.
• Act as the liaison between stores, outside vendors, Artists, design team, warehouses, logistics and visual teams.
• Monitor any special orders, manage store communication and manage inventory levels for Hospitality division.
• Work with Planning and Production teams to insure business best practices.
• Manage outside vendor and Art POs for new store openings.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Relevant experience in buying / merchandising of Decorative Accessories a plus.
• Knowledge of local/ regional art scene a plus.
• Knowledge of luxury product lines a plus.
• Appropriate taste level required.
• Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow through on all aspects of responsibility.
• Self starter. Ability to work with minimal direction required.
• Ability to multitask and focus in a busy atmosphere.
• Excellent time management and communication skills.
• MS Office Suite proficiency required.
• Knowledge of NetSuite a plus.
• 4-5 years of experience, college degree in related field preferred.

OPERATIONS LOGISTIC COORDINATOR

Overview:
• Liaison between stores, design team, factories, distribution center, and visual team on custom & floor set deliveries.
• Monitor and ensure on-time product delivery by troubleshooting issues with international & domestic logistics.
• Monitor weekly shipping status from domestic and international vendors to ensure compliance with event schedules.
• Work with freight forwarders, manage domestic and international shipments assuring
compliance with all regulatory requirements.
• Arrange the pickup & distribution of in-home white glove deliveries with multiple carriers.
• Maintain weekly Retail furniture ship list.
• Communicate with stores on delivery issues & arrange evaluation/restoration if necessary.
• Evaluate air & ocean ship costs and identify opportunities for saving on freight.
• Coordinate freight consolidation.
• Create invoices and packing lists for export goods.
• Monitor shipment of design samples & tradeshow materials.
• Work with Manager of Sourcing/Production and Planning Manager to insure business best practices.


Qualifications/Requirements:
• Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow through on all aspects of responsibility.
• Ability to multitask and focus in a busy atmosphere.
• Excellent time management and communication skills.
• Relevant experience in supply chain, logistics and/ or white glove delivery.

WEB GRAPHIC DESIGNER

We are seeking a mid-senior level Graphic Designer at our SoHo headquarters to help contribute to our graphic identity, as it is represented through email marketing campaigns, the website, PR, and wholesale. The Graphic Designer will also contribute to shipping boxes design, business cards, letterhead, stationary, vehicle signage, etc. The successful candidate will be a proven self-starter and leader. He/she must have a strong work ethic as well as a passion for both graphic design and Jonathan Adler!

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
-    Create design concepts and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic design styles.
-    Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type.
-    Use computer software to generate new images.
-    Assemble final layouts to prepare for printer.
-    Review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed.
-    Confer with peers and/or supervisors to discuss and determine layout design.
-    Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and internet websites.
-    Prepare illustrations or rough sketches of material, discussing them with peers and/or supervisors and making necessary changes.
-    Prepare notes and instructions for workers who assemble and prepare final layouts for printing.
-    Photograph products for SKU book and website.
-    Produce flash graphics for website homepage.
-    Manage 2-3 graphics interns, setting a professional example, while helping them to learn and contribute to Jonathan Adler’s voice and image

Requirements:
-    Proven experience in the field.
-    Illustrator, Photoshop, DreamWeaver, PowerPoint and InDesign proficiency
-    Flash and HTML experience.
-    Photography skills.
-    Highly organized.
-    Ability to communicate effectively, using text, color and images.
-    Flexibility and openness to new ideas as well as a personal desire to always outdo what has been done.
-    Ability and willingness to interpret Jonathan Adler’s style and sensibilities, while translating these ideas through the proper medium (email blast, product, signage, etc.).
-   A “Y-E-S” attitude.

PR INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

We are looking for talented and motivated students to intern in our Marketing and Press department. Rising juniors and seniors preferred. Strong communication skills and previous internship experience required.  School credit may be arranged based on the requirements of your school. Scheduling is flexible, however we prefer that interns are available a minimum of 20 hours per week.
