Transformational Universal Lamps

"I've decorated my home several times over, but striangely, I haven't done much to my primary suite in a couple of decades. I recently moved to a 1960 New England Colonial that I've decided to decorate in a Hollywood Regency style. These lamps caught my eye (for their glam style) and I decided to purchase them for my bedroom during a holiday sale. When they arrived, the boxes were oversized, and I was intimidated to open them. Maybe, I'd made a mistake in buying them, but lighting is non-returnable, so I'd have to live with my mistake (or sell them). I finally mustered up the courage to open the boxes on a rainy Saturday and much to my delight they were gorgeous (way more than the photos on the site). Still, the marble was super heavy and the shades were enormous. I enlisted my husband to carry them to our primary bedroom and he set them up because I was too worried they would be too big. When I entered the room, I was stunned at how two lamps transformed our bedroom. They are not too big at all. They are stately, gorgeous, and functional. I really love that they have a dimmer feature and the shades diffuse the light perfectly. The lamps replaced traditional urn lamps with bell-shaped shades that were beige or cream and these bright white ones instantly freshen up and modernize the space, yet they don't clash with the traditional nightstands (which Inwill be updating soon too). The Canaan lamps are truly universal. They work perfectly with a range of decors. They are true standouts! I never really write reviews, but the one I read about these lamps inspired me to buy them and I would just like to echo his review. These lamps are a solid investment that will take you through phases of redesign and home decor. They will also surely retain their resale value. I own many JA light fixtures and lamps. They all add a special something to the home. These are real show-stoppers. They make me feel like I'm staying in a luxurious hotel suite; but alas, it is my humble abode."

A very stable staple for your home to end up in a museum and not an antique store!

"When I decided it was time to freshen up one of my main living areas and bring it into this decade, I knew that I wanted in its replacement what I got out of my last selection for a lighting fixture—something that would span a reasonable period, without the need to change it in just a few years. There are only two decor artists, in my opinion, that grasp the concept of an iconic decore that moves along with time because it's not a trend or fad but a staple in the idea of decore sustainability. One is Ralph Lauren, and the other is Jonathan Adler. Both are very separate in their distinctive looks and styles, but each has the talent to make a fashion and not a trend. That is what makes a great decor. I needed something that went in a more modern room with clean lines and elements that did not cling for attention—more complement each other and make a room a slice of home. Nothing says here to stay than a sturdy, solid piece of marble fashioned into a simple but primary shape with its veins of color coursing through the foundation of the material. And that's what I found when I bought a pair of Jonathan Adler's Canaan solid marble table lamps—topped off if you could say, with the dramatic large square shade to brighten any room, but the details are in the devil. They say. When it comes to this artist of home interiors, Jonathan Adler is the master of not just the tangible but also the perception of the item; how can you wonder if something like this can be accomplished? A simple piece of brass with hundreds of boreholes sitting on top of the lampshade to remarkably diffuse the light across the walls and not blind the ceiling with accidental light but the light that is controlled and part of the lamp and its connection to the room itself. What an excellent piece of iconography to last the ages. This lamp will be in a museum instead of an antique store. Bravo, Jonathan Adler. --D. Rost, Naples, Florida."
