PRODUCT CARE & CLEANING

From our tiniest pot to our swankiest sofa, we recommend always consulting individual product Care & Cleaning tabs online or tags and product care cards included with your purchase. Here’s more on how you can protect your future heirlooms for generations to come.

POTTERY

Jonathan was (and is) a potter first: rough, smooth, glossy or mottled, each piece of our pottery still starts its journey in our Soho pottery studio where he and his team sculpt the original model in clay. Due to the handmade nature of our pottery, expect slight variations and imperfections from piece to piece.

UNGLAZED PORCELAIN POTTERY

Spot clean with soap and water, or make a paste with baking soda for a deep clean. Only use a soft, non-abrasive cloth, as sponges may leach into the ceramic surface. Minor wear can be cleaned with a Magic Eraser. Pieces are also dishwasher safe; top rack recommended.

CLEAR, COLORED, OR METALLIC GLAZED POTTERY

Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Hand wash or spot clean with mild soap and water only. Always dry metallic accents and finishes immediately to avoid watermarks and damage.

DECORATIVE ACCESSORIES & OBJETS

Materials vary per collection: always consult individual product Care & Cleaning tabs online or tags and product care cards included with your purchase. For care of our most commonly used materials, specifications can be found below in our Materials Guide below.

FURNITURE

Materials vary per collection: always consult individual product Care & Cleaning tabs online or tags and product care cards included with your purchase. For care of our most commonly used materials, specifications can be found below in our Materials Guide below.

CASEGOODS

For items requiring initial assembly, we recommend retightening bolts every three months to ensure stability; Door hinges may loosen or become misaligned in transport or over time. If your doors feel loose, tighten bolts or adjust hinges with a Phillips head screwdriver.

UPHOLSTERED ITEMS

Do not use cleaners with harsh or chemical on exposed framework (wood or metal). For upholstery care, see our Upholstery section below.

MATERIALS GUIDE

Please note that care guidelines also apply to bases, frameworks, accents, and other secondary material uses.

ACRYLIC

Guidelines apply to clear, opaque, and marbleized acrylic styles.

Sculptures, Objets, & Vases

To best preserve acrylic's lucidity, always keep out of direct sunlight. Care should be taken to avoid scratches. Minor scratches can be buffed out by hand with a soft, dry cloth. Clean using a soft, dry microfiber cloth in straight strokes. Never use harsh chemical or abrasive cleaners and/or household window cleaners on acrylic. If you need deep cleaning, use warm (hot water can cause clouding), soapy water and a soft, lint-free cloth. If scratches develop, Novus cleaners may be used to repair. Novus Level 1 is for cleansing, 2 for polishing light scratches, and 3 for more significant wear.

Tabletops & Tray Surfaces

Wipe spills immediately; Do not allow water to collect on the surface. Avoid contact with hot items. If scratches do develop, Novus cleaners may be used to repair. Novus Level 1 is for cleansing, 2 for polishing light scratches, and 3 for more significant wear.

BRASS

Please note that these guidelines apply to our solid cast styles only. Never use brass polish on blackened brass/bronze pieces as it will damage the finish. If desired, use a microfiber cloth to buff out fingerprints. Over time, polished brass will develop a rich natural patina. If you have no patience to wait for patina, use a brass polish. Please note that our brass is coated in a protective topcoat that will wear away with the use of brass polish; To preserve the topcoat, use Novus Level 1 for cleansing instead.

CORK

Avoid direct sunlight to prevent the color from fading over time. Always blot spills immediately and rinse with a clean, soft damp cloth. Use coasters under beverages to prevent ring marks and stains. Use trivets or hot pads under hot items, do not place directly on the tabletop. Use a mat beneath hard objects that might scratch the surface. Regularly, clean with a soft damp cloth with mild dish soap and water, then rinse and dry. Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or household cleaners.

GLASS

Guidelines apply to antiqued, black painted, and reflective glass styles: Wipe spills immediately. Do not allow water to collect on the surface. Clean using a soft, dry microfiber cloth. For tough stains and fingerprints, use a glass cleaner with a soft cloth to remove. When using glass cleaner, take care to avoid cleaning solution lingering on crevices or coming in contact with adjacent materials.

LACQUER

Wipe spills immediately. Do not allow water to collect on the surface. Avoid contact with hot items. Clean using a soft, dry microfiber cloth and wipe in straight strokes. Never use cleaner with alcohol or solvents as they may damage the surface and finish. If scratches on the lacquer surface develop, Novus Cleaners may be used to repair. We recommend Novus Level 1 or 2 for buffing out light scratches; If your finish shows signs of significant wear, consult with a professional. Please note that our lacquer is sometimes applied to wood. Wood is a natural material and responds to changes in temperature and humidity: extreme fluctuations can cause wood furniture to crack and lacquer finishes to lift.

LEATHER

Color variation, branding marks and scars are standard characteristics of authentic leather and should be expected. Leather is a hide and naturally porous; Exposure to moisture can cause it to warp and stretch. Maintain leather by keeping it away from direct sunlight and fluctuations in temperature.Leather will age and continue to soften over time.

Wipe spills immediately; do not allow water to collect on the surface. Avoid contact with hot items. Dust with a soft, dry cloth; microfiber is recommended. Spot clean with a damp cloth; plain white recommended. Consult a leather care specialist for deeper cleans or if your product is showing signs of significant wear.

MARBLE & STONE

Dust with soft dry cloth. Blot spills immediately with a soft, clean, absorbent white cloth. Hand wash only with mild soap; To avoid spots, dry immediately with a soft, dry cloth. Never use harsh chemical or abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that could erode protective topcoats.

METALS

All of our metals are finished with a clear lacquer topcoat to ensure its longevity and slow the natural patina process; Over time, a patina will still develop–excessive exposure to moisture may hasten its appearance.

In general: Always avoid contact with hot items.Wipe spills immediately; do not allow water to collect on the surface. To clean, wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Never use cleaner with alcohol or solvents on metals as they may damage the protective topcoat. If your metal shows signs of significant wear, consult with a professional.

NATURAL RAFFIA

Raffia is a natural fiber made from raffia palms: Use a very soft natural brush, feather duster, or soft cloth to gently dust or wipe the item; Do not rub. Wipe spills immediately; Do not allow water to collect on the surface. Avoid contact with hot items. Never use harsh chemical or abrasive cleaners that may stain the raffia or cause discoloration. Please note that our raffia is typically applied to wood. Wood is a natural material and responds to changes in temperature and humidity: extreme fluctuations can cause wood furniture to crack and lacquer and finishes to lift.

NATURAL REEDS

Our natural reeds are steeped in water by hand to increase their elasticity, then hand-coiled and fastened to base frameworks. Styles are either finished in a warm, honey-toned stain and coated with glossy lacquer, or coated with a satin matte lacquer to enhance their natural coloring.

Dust with a soft, dry cloth or spot clean with a damp cloth. Never use harsh chemical or abrasive cleaners that could erode protective topcoats; It can cause the reed pieces to delaminate.

TERRAZZO

Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfiber cloth to remove dust and loose surface debris that can scratch the surface. Clean with a soft damp cloth with a small amount of gentle dish washing liquid and wipe dry. Blot spills and moisture immediately with a soft cloth to prevent staining on stone surface. Note: lemon, vinegar and other acidic liquids will stain. Never use abrasive sponges, clothes or cleaners. Never use chemical cleaners and furniture polish. Place coasters or trivets under glasses and dishes to prevent ring marks. Avoid contact with hot items. Recommend to apply light application of Terrazzo sealer periodically.

WOOD AND WOOD FINISHES

Wipe spills immediately; do not allow water to collect on the surface. Avoid contact with hot items. Dust with a soft, dry cloth; microfiber is recommended. Spot clean with a damp cloth; plain white recommended. Never use harsh or abrasive cleaners that could erode protective topcoats. Wood is a natural material and responds to changes in temperature and humidity: extreme fluctuations can cause wood furniture to crack and lacquer and finishes to lift.

UPHOLSTERY

FABRIC UPHOLSTERIES

Vacuum occasionally with a soft brush attachment to remove dust and grime. Rotate and flip reversible cushions periodically for even wear. Do not use cleaners with harsh or chemical on exposed framework (wood or metal), and follow your fabric’s cleaning code for further instruction, but note that consulting with a professional upholstery cleaning service is always recommended:

Cleaning Code W

Spot clean with distilled water and any water-based shampoo or foam cleaner. Note that minerals from tap water can cause discoloration or fading. Always test a small hidden area first to see how your upholstery will react. Consult a professional upholstery cleaning service for deeper cleans.

Cleaning Code S

Dry solvent cleaning only. Never use water or a water-based cleaning product–damage can occur. Protect your floor and carpet when using dry cleaning solvents. Always test a small hidden area first to see how your upholstery will react. Consult a professional upholstery cleaning service for deeper cleans.

Cleaning Code SW

Spot clean with a water-based upholstery shampoo, foam from a mild detergent, or a mild dry solvent.Protect your floor and carpet when using dry cleaning solvents. Always test a small hidden area first to see how your upholstery will react. Consult a professional upholstery cleaning service for deeper cleans.

LEATHER UPHOLSTERY

Color variation, branding marks and scars are standard characteristics of authentic leather and should be expected. Leather is a hide and naturally porous; Exposure to moisture can cause it to warp and stretch. Maintain leather by keeping it away from direct sunlight and fluctuations in temperature. Leather will age and continue to soften over time.

To extend the life of your leather upholstery: Dust with a soft, dry cloth or vacuum with a soft brush attachment often. Avoid contact with hot items. Blot spills immediately; Do not allow water to collect on the surface. To spot clean, blot with a warm, damp cloth or with a mild soap and water solution. Air dry only. TEXTILES

ALL RUGS

All of our rugs are handcrafted: color variations, weave lines, and striations should be expected. For all of our rugs, we recommend rotating occasionally to distribute wear, and using rug protectors under furniture to prevent indentations and wear.

Flatweave Styles

Suitable for high-traffic areas. Vacuum regularly. Treat spills immediately with a clean, undyed cloth by pressing firmly to absorb as much as possible. Treat stains quickly; Spot clean with a mild detergent or carpet cleaner, first testing a small portion of the rug. Do not use bleach-based products.

Hand-Knotted, Woven, Loomed, & Tufted Styles

Not recommended for use in high-traffic or wet areas. Keep away from excessive moisture; For indoor use only. Vacuum regularly on a low power setting to reduce shedding; Use a vacuum cleaner without a beater brush as it may cause damage; Shading will occur as the pile shifts and tracking will occur from foot steps. For best results, vacuum in the direction of the pile to avoid pushing dirt back into carpet fibers. Treat spills immediately with a clean, undyed cloth by pressing firmly to absorb as much as possible; Do not scrub as it could warp the pile. For hard to remove stains, we recommend professional cleaning; Harsh chemicals may damage or fade rugs. Shedding of loose fibers may occur but will diminish over time; Expect the most shedding to occur within the first 3–6 months. If loose threads occur, do not pull — clip with scissors to remove.

THROWS & PILLOWS

Spot clean with a mild detergent; Professional cleaning recommended.

LIGHTING

All of our lighting is wired for use in the US or UK/EU only. Never exceed specified wattage. Remember to be mindful of Dry and Damp ratings when making your purchase.

Materials vary per collection: always consult individual product Care & Cleaning tabs online or tags and product care cards included with your purchase. In general: lighting frameworks, stems, bases, and shades can be dusted with a feather duster or soft dry cloth, or wiped clean with a soft cloth; Never use polishes, abrasive, or chemical cleaners that can erode protective topcoats.

DINNERWARE, SERVEWARE, & TABLETOP

All of our dinner, drink, and serveware is food safe, but please note that some tabletop items may be labeled “for decorative use only.”

To extend the life of your dinner and serveware pieces: Avoid prolonged contact with acidic foods. Rinse or wash immediately after use to prevent scratches and staining. Porcelain, stoneware, and glass pieces are dishwasher safe; Items with metallic accents are dishwasher safe for up to 500 washes. Hand washing with mild soap and water is always recommended; Do not use brass polish, abrasive cleaners, or scouring pads; To prevent watermarks and damage to metallic accents and finishes, dry immediately with a soft cloth. Never use metallic-accented pieces in the microwave; Porcelain and glass items without metallic accents and stoneware pieces are microwave safe. Use a protective cloth or padding when storing or stacking.

Acrylic Tabletop & Serveware

Rinse or wash immediately after every use; Hand wash only using warm (hot water can cause clouding), soapy water and a soft, lint-free cloth; Never use harsh chemical or abrasive cleaners and/or household window cleaners on acrylic; To best preserve acrylic's lucidity, always keep out of direct sunlight; Care should be taken to avoid scratches; Minor scratches can be buffed out by hand with a soft, dry cloth; If scratches develop, Novus cleaners may be used to repair. Novus Level 1 is for cleansing, 2 for polishing light scratches, and 3 for more significant wear.

Ceramic Tabletop & Serveware

For items with a clear, colored, or metallic glaze: dust with a soft, dry cloth and hand wash or spot clean only. Use mild detergent with water to clean.

Porcelain Coasters

Surface scratching will occur with use over time. If needed, hand wash only with mild soap and water and dry metallic accents and finishes immediately to avoid damage and watermarks.

Glassware

Glassware styles with metallic accents are hand-wash only with mild soap and water.

Marble/Stone & Brass Tabletop & Serveware

Rinse immediately after use and do not allow liquids to sit on the surface. Do not use in a microwave and avoid contact with acidic foods.
