The-Know How with Sipsmith Gin:
WITH SIPSMITH GIN:
THE PERFECT VIBE FOR THE PERFECT SERVE
To celebrate the launch of our special edition collaboration with Sipsmith® London Gin, we asked their founders Jared Brown, Sam Galsworthy, and Fairfax Hall, plus our very own Jonathan and his British shorter half Simon Doonan, to dish on the makings of a magical cocktail hour—their signature move, mood music, and dream guests.
JARED (SIPSMITH GIN)
The move: the negroni for its ease and elegance.
Mood music: romantic or upbeat jazz.
Dream guests: Anistatia Miller, my wife and best friend of 30 years, Stephen Fry, and Julia Child.
SAM (SIPSMITH GIN)
The move: a Duke’s style martini to kick proceedings off.
Mood music: Miles Davis of late, but as we return to something that looks more like ‘normal’ some Stones.
Dream guests: my wife. If she can’t make it then Dorothy Parker.
FAIRFAX (SIPSMITH GIN)
The move: kick things off with a French 75.
Mood music: anything upbeat.
Dream guests: Andy Warhol, Marilyn Monroe, and Vince Lombardi.
The move: it’s all about lolling and lounging. Why stand when you can recline?
Mood music: groovy Italian 70's movie soundtracks.
Dream guests: a mix of high and low. Pete Davidson, but also Marie-Antoinette.
The move: go high and low with everything. For each spoon of caviar there needs to be a pig in a blanket.
Mood music: pre-party, Eye of the Tiger. Mid-party, slow it down.
Dream guests: to stay on brand, English people whose last name is “Smith”: Paul Smith, Zadie Smith, Maggie Smith, Sam Smith, and Will Smith (He can put on an English accent – he’s an actor after all!).
